One of exa nordic’s experts, Arnar Björn Björnsson, worked as an integral part of design team of EFLA consulting engineers in the design of a new bridge over Varmá, just east of Hveragerdi. The bridge is a post-tensioned flat slab bridge of total length of 47.8 m which is divided into three spans. The total breadth of 14.6 m is divided into 7 m wide traffic lanes and pedestrian and cycle lanes on both sides.

Along the east bank of Varmá river, a horse riding path goes under the bridge. Creating a pleasant environment under the bridge was therefore emphasized in the design of the bridge. High seismic loads had determining impact on the design.
